Caring for Artificial Earrings

Artificial jewellery is plated rather than solid, and the plating is what wears first. A few habits make a large difference to how long a pair lasts.

Put them on last. Perfume, hairspray, lotion, and makeup all attack plating. Get dressed, finish your hair and makeup, and put on earrings at the end.

Take them off first. Remove them before washing your face, showering, or sleeping. Water and sweat are the fastest ways to dull a finish.

Wipe them after wearing. A quick pass with a dry soft cloth removes the sweat and oil that would otherwise sit on the metal overnight.
